A-Z Recycling Guide -- Scrap Metal
Scrap metal items must be at least 50-percent metal. Acceptable items include water heaters, microwaves, washers and dryers, metal shelves, enameled cast iron plumbing fixtures and other items that are predominantly metal. See "Fencing" for details on fencing.
The only metals that are recyclable in curbside recycling bins are aluminum and steel cans. OTHER METAL CANNOT GO IN YOUR CURBSIDE RECYCLING BIN and must be dropped off at a local recycling center.
Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, or other appliances containing Freon™ or CFCs may be accepted for a fee. Please call for details.

- NO batteries
- NO tires
- NO pressurized containers such as propane, O2, CO2, and Acetylene (Helium canisters are OK, but must be dropped off in a special location designated by warehouse crew. Never allowed in scrap metal.)

The Longmont Waste Diversion Center accepts scrap metal during the following regular business hours:

The Waste Diversion Center is closed on Sundays and the following holidays: Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
