February 2013: Niwot Market

The owners of the Niwot Market, the Steele family, work closely with Eco-Cycle to go for Zero Waste: They recycle both single-stream materials and hard-to-recycle materials like pallet wrap and plastic bags, and they also accept plastic bags from Niwot residents! January 2013: Avery Brewing Company

Avery beer is loved by microbrew fans near and far, but did you know they are also super green? Since 2008, Avery has been working with Eco-Cycle to recycle single-stream items and hard-to-recycle materials like wooden pallets and plastic wrap from their brewery in Boulder. December 2012: Alfalfa's Market

Friends, it’s time to announce our Zero Waste Business of the Month: Alfalfa's Market! Since their re-opening on Earth Day of 2011, Alfalfa’s has been one of the most sustainable grocery stores in Boulder County. In addition to offering as many organic products and produce as possible, they also recycle and compost **more than 90%** of their waste each month!! Read more >> 

November 2012: Ocean First Divers

Friends, it’s time to announce our Zero Waste Business of the Month: Ocean First Divers! The environmental efforts of Ocean First Divers are truly outstanding. As Eco-Cycle Zero Waste partners since 2010, they are dedicated to recycling single-stream materials, reusing dishes and composting food scraps in the break room, and keeping hard-to-recycle materials like white block foam, plastic bags and bubble wrap out of the landfill via our CHaRM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials).

October 2012: Elevations Credit Union

There are many reasons to love our local, not-for-profit credit union, but we’re going to focus on how they go above and beyond in waste reduction and waste recovery. 

The staff at Elevations not only recycles all their single-stream materials with Eco-Cycle; they also compost all of their organics, recycle their old electronics at the CHaRM and use Zero Waste purchasing practices to reduce waste in the first place, like making sure to always use reusable or compostable products in their break rooms.

September 2012: 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

We are thrilled to be working with the locally-owned, Boulder-based franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, a national company that has become a recycling pioneer in an industry where most materials are traditionally landfilled.

For a company that is fueled by “junk” from homes and businesses, Boulder’s 1-800-GOT-JUNK? diverts 75% of their materials from the landfill - pretty remarkable! They recycle any electronics, white block foam and porcelain toilets they pick up in the area at the Eco-Cycle CHaRM, and their local office uses our single-stream recycling services.

August 2012: University Bicycles

It's no surprise that the folks at University Bicycles in downtown Boulder are passionate stewards of the environment. Along with their commitment to meeting our community's cycling needs, the UBikes staff recycles single-stream materials and composts organics. They also recycle hard-to-recycle materials, like plastic bags and white block foam, and if they change your bike tire or bike tube, they will recycle the old ones with us too! Thank you, University Bicycles, for your stellar service and commitment to the environment!!

July 2012: Advanced Thin Films

Advanced Thin Films has been a wonderful and dedicated Zero Waste Community Partner since 2008. In addition to recovering as much as they can with single-stream recycling and composting, ATFilms started up a hard-to-recycle program in January to divert even more materials from the landfill. Thank you, ATFilms, for being such great stewards of the environment! 

June 2012: iSupportU

The IT-guru staff at iSupportU not only recycles and composts as much as possible around the office, but they also use reusable tableware like plates and utensils in their break room and reuse packaging materials like foam peanuts and bubble wrap. And, this is BIG: They host the one and only mini-CHaRM drop-off center in downtown Boulder for electronics recycling! (Items accepted are pictured!)

We are truly excited to be partnered with such an environmentally-conscious company. Thanks for all your efforts, iSupportU friends! 

May 2012: Namasté Solar

Friends! We’re excited to share with you our first *Zero Waste Business of the Month.* Namasté Solar has been a passionate Zero Waste Community Partner with Eco-Cycle since 2008. Namasté staff not only recycle their single-stream materials and compost all of their organics - they also recycle CHaRM items like pallet wrap, scrap metal, block foam and more. Their efforts to give discards a new life serve as a model for the rest of Boulder County. Three cheers for ya, Namasté!
