Can you recycle plastic lids and caps in Boulder County?
Here’s the scoop, in a capful.
At the Boulder County Recycling Center, we can take plastic screw-on caps on empty plastic bottles and jars. Key words here are plastic caps on plastic bottles/jars. Please make sure the bottles and jars are empty so we don’t have any exploding bottles during the baling process!
Plastic lids that pop off rather than screw on, like margarine, cream cheese or yogurt lids, must go in the trash. In the recycling process, flat plastics like these end up getting sorted with our paper, acting as a contaminant in our otherwise clean paper.
