Accepted materials: Most appliances are accepted at the CHaRM for a fee. If your appliance is in good condition, consider selling it to a used appliance store before recycling. Appliances with regfrigerant (Freon™) are accepted, although there is a $15 fee to cover the cost of refrigerant removal for refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. Appliances containing refrigerant must, by state law, have it removed by a company licensed to do so before recycling or disposal. Vehicles are charged a $3 facility use fee per visit in addition to any per-item fees. Large appliances without Freon™ are accepted including: stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, and dishwashers. Appliances that are 50% metal or more are accepted at no charge.
Small appliances that have a plug or battery are accepted such as: electric toothbrushes, blow dryers, curling irons, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, blenders, small fans, swamp coolers, humidifiers, carpet steamers, shop vacs and much more. There are minimal fees for recycling all other appliances.
Appliances are NOT recyclable in your curbside, single-stream recycling bin.
Please visit the CHaRM website for the full list of accepted materials, fees, current hours and more details.
