About Us

Eco-Cycle is a nonprofit social enterprise based in Boulder. As one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit recyclers, Eco-Cycle has been a Zero Waste pioneer since the organization started curbside recycling in the City of Boulder back in 1976. Since then, we have gone on to pioneer many more “firsts” in the industry, including providing the first commercial compost collections in our region, creating the first-of-its-kind Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM) and launching the Zero Waste movement in Colorado and the US. Eco-Cycle works to identify, explore, and demonstrate the emerging frontiers of sustainable resource management through the concepts and practices of Zero Waste.

As a social enterprise, Eco-Cycle invests revenues it receives from business activities, including providing recycling and compost hauling services to our business partners and operating both the Boulder County Recycling Center and the CHaRM to provide essential funding for Eco-Cycle’s award-winning schools programs as well as public education, outreach, and advocacy programs.
