Volunteer with Eco-Cycle!

Want to make a difference and help your community get closer to zero waste?
Eco-Cycle has many great opportunities to engage the public in reducing our environmental footprint and creating a more sustainable society. You can form a personal connection to those people who care just as much as you do.
Here’s how:
Host a Zero Waste Party
Host a Zero Waste party and be the most sustainable house on the block. Eco-Cycle staff are available to help you plan a Zero Waste party for you and your friends. We are also available to come out and provide a backyard compost training, as well as recycling training while engaging everyone in a sustainable conversation.
Become an Eco-Cycle Block Leader
These dedicated volunteers have taken on the responsibility of being the Zero Waste ambassadors of their neighborhood. Aside from supporting Eco-Cycle’s mission to create a Zero Waste community in Boulder County, they act as the foundation of our volunteer network. Delivering the Eco-Cycle Times, organizing their neighborhoods, and recruiting volunteers are a part of the great opportunities that come with becoming a Block Leader.
Educate the public about sustainable living at Zero Waste Events
Zero Waste Events such as the Boulder Spring Half Marathon, Boulder Creek Festival, New Belgium Clips, Lafayette Peach Festival and Longmont’s Venus de Miles are a great way to develop the Zero Waste culture and educate the community. We are looking for individuals to join our Zero Waste Event Team and participate in special community events throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Zero Waste Event Team Members receive in depth training in zero waste and educate the public on zero waste living at these community events.
Make the Farmer’s Market a Zero Waste Affair
This year we are extending our Zero Waste Event Team to cover the Zero Waste Stations at the Farmers’ Market in both Boulder and Longmont. We are looking to sign up groups, families, and individuals to be a part of this great opportunity on Saturdays and Wednesdays throughout the season.
Get your apartment building, condominium community or HOA to recycle
Eco-Cycle is working with apartment complexes, condo buildings and HOAs to increase their recycling rates through education, trainings and fun contests.
Longmont residents can help their city Recycle It Right by:
Get your community group to participate in the Recycle It Right campaign
Eco-Cycle and the City of Longmont are reaching out to different Longmont community groups to offer presentations on recycling including faith-based groups, girl scouts and other civic groups. These groups can help by getting the word out to their members about recycling and participating in our outreach efforts.
Share the Recycle it Right Pledge
The Recycle It Right pledge asks residents to commit to learning about the recycling guidelines and only recycle materials that are accepted. By sharing the pledge with 10 of your friends/neighbors/coworkers, you will be helping to make sure that the Longmont community increases its recycling rate and keeps the recycling stream free of contamination.
Lend your hand at the Longmont Hard-to-Recycle Roundup
This year, 2013 we will have three Hard-to-Recycle Roundups in Longmont. The dates for these are: March 30, June 22 and September 14. At these roundups we accept hard-to-recycle items such as computers, TVs and stereo equipment. You can help by answering questions, unloading cars and directing traffic.
Become a Recycling Expert and help others to Recycle at the Waste Diversion Center
We will be spending a few hours each Saturday at the Waste Diversion Center answering questions, keeping the bins free of contamination and sharing recycling tips. This is a fun opportunity to interact with fellow Longmont residents, and very kid friendly!
Let us know what you'd like to volunteer for and we'll get you all set up!
