Farm Tours: Come see compost demonstration sites in action!
Eco-Cycle and local farm partners are demonstrating the vision of a circular compost system. Together, we are building a distributed community compost model (as opposed to, or hopefully in addition to, one large, central compost facility to serve Boulder County) with compost production sites and regenerative farming sites throughout the county that create and use finished compost!
This summer, you can experience distributed compost production and regenerative farming firsthand by joining us for a tour of our partner farm locations, each using Aerated Static Pile (ASP) systems. Come learn more about what local compost infrastructure can look like as we move forward with compost solutions for our Boulder County community.
Farmers Market Tabling Opportunities in Boulder and Longmont
We’ve been given the unique opportunity to table at local Farmers Markets in both Longmont and Boulder. If you’ve been to these markets, you know this is a GREAT way to educate the many market shoppers, and we want to take advantage of the chance for compost education in particular.
- Boulder—two weekly markets in downtown Boulder on 13th Street (between Canyon and Arapahoe):
- Wed. 4–8 pm (May–October)
- Sat. 8 am–2 pm (April–November)
- Longmont—one weekly market at Boulder County Fairgrounds (9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont, CO 80501)
- Sat. 8 am–1 pm (April–November)
If you would be interested in spending a little time with us at the market sitting at an Eco-Cycle table and sharing info with passersby, sign up for a tabling shift here.
Second Annual Harvest of All First Nations Corn Festival
Eco-Cycle is proud to be a sponsor and Zero Waste partner for the Second Annual Harvest of All First Nations (HAFN) Corn Festival. The festival is a celebration of community, culture, and connection hosted by HAFN, an Indigenous-led collaborative empowering communities through projects and education.
The event will be held at the Agricultural Heritage Center in Longmont on September 23 and 24, and will feature workshops, talking circles, performances, music, delicious food, local vendors, and much more! You can get tickets or donate to support the event at hafnco.org/corn-fest.
There are also opportunities to join us in supporting the Zero Waste effort! Eco-Cycle is looking for volunteers to assist with waste monitoring during the event and some sorting at the end of each evening. There will be two shifts on Saturday 9/23, and on Sunday 9/24, each from 12–4 pm and 4–8 pm (possibly ending earlier). Sign up for a volunteer shift here!
