To tackle natural resource depletion and climate change, Eco-Cycle engages all sectors of the community to advance Zero Waste climate solutions that reduce consumption emissions, build circular economies, and draw down atmospheric carbon.
One of our most important roles is to demonstrate what is possible for our future—by creating and honing local Zero Waste solutions and then sharing them for other communities to adopt, maximizing our impact. We are using the strength of our research, policy development, campaign work, and volunteer programs to create change locally, statewide, and nationally, including:
- Shaping policy: Guided Colorado’s Producer Responsibility rollout plan, securing free, convenient recycling statewide beginning in 2026.
- Scaling community composting: Partnered with regenerative farmers who are turning food scraps from schools into compost that is produced and applied on their farms.
- Empowering students: Reached more than 33,000 students and staff through our Green Star Schools program, helping them cut waste by up to 67% with daily Zero Waste practice.
- Electrifying waste collection: Added a second 100% electric recycling truck to our fleet, advancing our “Zero Waste, Zero Emissions” vision and reducing pollution in Boulder County neighborhoods.
- Recycling at scale: Recycled 100+ million pounds of materials through the Boulder County Recycling Center and CHaRM—keeping valuable resources in circulation and out of the landfill.
